The article is very good. Write please more.

Hello Katty!

Thanks for your comments. I’m happy to assist anyone with their Honda needs. I’m always looking for new questions, so feel free to throw in your questions or comments!

Hi,

I have a 1997 Acura EL1.6 4DR. I need to get it insured asap. I have a US driving license and am based in Mississauga, postal code L5V 3C4.

-Regards,
Nabeel.

Hello Nabeel,
Thanks for the question.
You’re looking for someone to insure your car in the Mississauga area? Lets see if one of our managers can help you out – I’ll ask around and respond back here by friday. In the mean time, everyone please feel free to donate some ideas to Nabeel!

Hello Nabeel!

I’ve been asking some questions, and I got someone to call an insurance company to double check this.

First of all, if you are just visiting Canada, you don’t need Canadian driving insurance. But if you permantly moved to Canada, and you don’t have driving insurance, then its a bit different.

In order to get Canadian driving insurance, you need to have a valid Canadian drivers license. You can get a quote without changing your license, an even temporary insurance if you are planning to get your license and need to be covered for the time in between, but in order to get proper permanent insurance for your Acura, you need a Canadian license.

I’ve been told that switching back and forth between American and Canadian licenses shouldn’t be too difficult … does this help you?

What is the difference between 2007 Honda Civic USA and 2007 Honda Civic UK exclude FK/FN chassis,I just mean those which look a like LX type?
Maybe they call them Civic ES IMA!
Because I need 3 doors and fenders and I think they will fit..
Thanks if somebody give me a little help :)

Hello Longg!

Thanks for your comment. I see this is a reference from the HondaForum bulletin. On the Honda Forum, I explained how stylistically, that generation of Hondas split into two platforms, one for the American Market, and one for the European market. http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/72724-what-difference-between-2007-honda-civic-usa-2007-honda-civic-uk.html

What you might end up doing is taking doors and fenders from an older Honda model, I’m not sure. The best suggestion that I can give you in this case is to call Honda UK and ask them if you can remove the doors in a UK model and put them on a USA model….

Just see for what type of Hondas i’m talking about
if you put in google: 2007 civic es ima
you gonna see that

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=2007+civic+es+ima&gbv=2&aq=f&oq=

for those Hondas I’m talking about :)

Alright, I looked at the picture you provided and this particular style leans more towards the American models than European.

I think the Civic ES IMA is a hybrid car and I don’t know much about its prescence in the UK… I know that the 2nd generation (2006-present) of the Civic Hybrid is based on the 8th generation (2006 +) Civic platform.

The problem is, I’m not 100% sure if the Civic Hybrid in the UK is the same as the Civic in the US. We know that the Civics on the UK and the US (same model) are stylistically different and the doors would not fit, but I’m not sure about the Civic Hybrid, particularly in the UK (I know the North American/Japanese market better).
Let me do some research about these models and see if they are interchangable. Its kind of hard to go by just the picture in a model, but let me see if I can find a more concrete answer. I can’t see your car or the UK parts, so I can only give a guess, but I’d like it to be an educated guess. I’ll get back to you in 24 hours :) .

If You wont I can give you a pictures of my car,but anyway if you get this research you gonna help me verry much for real :) !

Hello longg!

Mr. Ison’s comment below is a great point – you could also check out the Acura CSX to see if there is a match.

So far, my research has revealed that in fact, the shell of the Civic Hybrid and the Civic itself are identical – the mirrors and driving panels are not, but the doors itself might be just fine. I’ll keep updating this today, but you just might be in luck about that part. I’ll also see if the Acura CSX might work …

Yes they maybe are the same with Acura but in UK they do not have it at all.
That is my point but *might be* is not 100% :) because you know, maybe will have a little differences, anyway I’ll let you finish with your research.
And also I’m wondering about the fenders and let me show you

http://www.hondacarforum.com/attachments/honda-technical/980d1244252057-what-difference-between-2007-honda-civic-usa-2007-honda-civic-uk-civic-1-.jpg

On this pic you can see what is the damage on the rear side of the passanger door panel, so I’m thinking to cut all over it from another car and just put it on mine but thought maybe the body of ES IMA will not fit on it but depends of you research!
Thank You :) !

Hello longg,

From what I understand the shell of a Civic Hybrid should be just fine on your car.

I do strongly suggest, however, that you call Honda UK and confirm with them about such parts. I’ve put their contact info below…

Call the Honda Customer Contact Centre on: 0845 200 8000.

They are open from:

8:00 AM – 6:00 PM Monday to Friday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturdays
(outside these hours a limited service still operates)

If you would prefer to write to them, you can do so at:
Honda (UK)
470 London Road
Slough
Berkshire

OK Thank You Verry Much!
God Bless you :) !

Good morning longg,
The images of the Civic ES IMA look alot like the Acura CSX. Have you checked that vehicle out?

05 HONDA CRV – Condenser Unit and AC compressor problems.

At the end of last summer my CRV’s AC system began to slowly lower the amount of cool air it produced. Finally after a complete loss of cooling I took it into the dealer. The service dept indicated that the A/C compressor would need to be changed. Although this is a warranty covered item, I am now living and driving this car in the US, and Honda Canada would not apply the warranty outside of Canada. So I put the repair off until this summer.

I have now spent the last couple of weeks doing some research on the AC system in the 05 CRV. Turns out there is a significant amount of chatter in the chat rooms and forums related to all Honda A/C systems produced from 00-08. So much chatter that there is actually a law firm in the US that has filed a class action law suit against Honda US. I have heard a significant number of these issues are related to initial damage to the A/C system being caused by a rock or stone chip hitting the condenser, which leaks refrigerant and then subsequently damages the compressor. Most of the discussion is on US Honda products. I suspect the US and Canadian Honda products have pretty much identical A/C systems. I wondering if you have come across many of these same issues related to Honda’s A/C systems in Canadian cars?
Have you heard of any re-designs that Honda is moving ahead with?
And if there is a systemic problem, should I be looking to replace the AC compressor and the condenser or will the compressor be enough? and are there any safeguards that I should be installing to prevent any further problems?

Thanks,

Hello A Forbes!!

Thanks for your comment – I found your problem to be quite interesting, and I did a bit of research. There are so many points to address, and I’m going to try my best. I apologize in advance for the long answer.

First of all, I should put in my standard cautionary remark – I cannot fully diagnose or suggest solutions to your car without seeing it. I’m going to try my best, but what I give you are only suggestions.

The loss of cooling in a CR-V could be for a number of reasons. One you outlined above: when people drive, gravel and rocks actually fly up the engine area and poke a hole in the condenser, which leaks refrigerant. An A/C system is a bit like an aerosol can – the pressure (while varying around the system) tends to be quite high, and something as small as a pin poking a hole could make the gas release and the pressure lost. Interestingly, the condenser can be damaged, but the compressor can be fine. If it’s just the condenser, it can easily be fixed. But it could be more than that.

Honda US and Canada parts/cars are generally similar – there may be differences (such as emissions etc.) but its safe to say they are similar. Despite this, I see many more complaints online about the problem you mention, in US rather than in Canada. According to the service department here, there doesn’t seem to be a particular problem with the CR-V design, or an unusual rate of occurrence of problems that would lead to the belief that the A/C system is faulty. I can’t tell you if or why the problem may be more common in the US but we don’t seem to come across the same sort of issues here – or at least not to the same extent.

When it comes to warranty, a condenser is covered if the car is three years old or less, or 60,000km (whichever comes first). It’s important to note, however, that “damage impact” (eg. A stone damaging your condenser) caused to the part is not covered. The warranty only covers part defects – that is, if something is faulty about the part alone, without any impact or other damage. So if the part is faulty and your car is less than 3 years old or 60,000km, then you are covered under warranty.

Is it possible that people in the US are covered the same way as here, but not for damage impact problems? Maybe that’s why complaints about warranty are quite high?

You also mentioned re-designs…I wasn’t sure what you meant, but I’m going to assume you meant models. Your 2005 CR-V falls under the second generation of CR-Vs and there is a third generation which started from 2007-present. That seemed to be quite popular, and in fact, the CR-V became the number one selling SUV in the US for 2007, capturing a title held by the Ford Explorer for the previous fifteen years. I know the big changes from the 2nd generation to the 3rd- like no attached spare tire on the car, optional navigation system, change of shape of the car etc. Did the A/C system changed? I don’t know for sure – it’s safe to assume the system is very similar from one generation to another. The shape of the parts and slight variations of the A/C system may have occurred. As a side note, there is also an anticipated 2010 model CR-V to be released.

If you have another other comments or questions please feel free to let me know :)

Just posted this on hondaforum.com but thought you may be able to help.

Hi, I have just purchased a Honda prelude 5th gen 1998 2.0 16v. There is a slight stutter sometimes when accelerating and sometimes when idling. This problem seems to be more prominent when cold and when turning corners. I have changed the spark plugs and HT leads and was considering the distributor next. Any ideas what this might be?

Hello Gavin!

First of all, thanks for the comment here – I check this website everyday, but I check the Honda Forum maybe once a week. So your question will be answered here much faster.

I’ve thought about your car trouble, and asked around for some expert advice. It could be a number of things, to be honest, and conducting a trials and error testing of every part could be a waste of time and money. It definitely sounds like an electrical problem, but without seeing the car, and test driving it, it’s hard for me to give you solid advice.

Here is what I suggest: take your car into a dealership and get a diagnostic test. You don’t have to get it repaired at a dealership, but get an expert to diagnose the problem, and then repair it yourself. That way you save money on the trial and error process of figuring out whats wrong with the car, AND you can save money by repairing it yourself (as long as you feel comfortable with doing so).
